The Institute for Systems Engineering joins SheCanEngineer as a Member!

SheCanEngineer is delighted to announce that The Institute for Systems Engineering (IfSE) has joined as a member, strengthening a shared commitment to fostering a more inclusive and representative engineering profession.

SheCanEngineer is a charity working to close the gender gap in engineering industries by inspiring and supporting women in engineering, raising awareness around issues relating to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), and promoting engineering in schools. The SheCanEngineer ethos has inclusion at its core – with all activities open to all genders.

By joining SheCanEngineer, IfSE becomes part of a growing network of organisations, Professional Engineering Institutions, and partners working together to positively shape the future of the engineering profession. IfSE’s membership reflects the Institute’s ongoing focus on Systems Thinking that values people and their diverse perspectives as key enablers of excellence in Systems Engineering.

IfSE members are encouraged to engage with upcoming SheCanEngineer events and initiatives, throughout the year, including opportunities linked to their flagship International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) events.

SheCanEngineer quote, from the team:

“We’re incredibly proud and excited to be supported by IfSE - this isn’t just a partnership, it’s a shared belief in building a profession where everyone belongs. Seeing that commitment reflected through the enthusiasm and engagement around diversity, equity, and inclusion from attendees at ASEC 2025, speaks volumes about why this work matters and why it’s always worth continuing to push for change.”

The Institute for Systems Engineering quote, from Andrew Pemberton (IfSE President):

“Partnering with an organisation dedicated to widening access to support women and girls pursuing a career in engineering is a meaningful step for The Institute for Systems Engineering. This reinforces our commitment to inclusivity; diversifying the perspectives across our membership, offering fresh outreach channels and opportunities, and sharing learnings that will benefit our Institute, enrich our events, and help ensure that we build systems that reflect the needs of the whole of society.”

This membership marks the start of closer collaboration between IfSE and SheCanEngineer, with opportunities to support inclusive events, share learnings, and contribute to initiatives that encourage broader participation and belonging within Systems Engineering and the wider engineering community.

IfSE members interested in supporting or contributing to this work are welcome to get in touch with IfSE or SheCanEngineer to explore how they can be involved. Further updates on joint activities will be shared in due course.
